The original course began here at this tempting and strategic short par 4. This hole was aptly named “Widow” as golf widowhood was said to commence on the first tee. There are six viable options in attacking the sloped landing area giving the player many club choices from the tee. The back right corner of the green provides a tournament cupping area and a strategic relationship with the adjacent bunker. To set up for a birdie opportunity, the player must hit the desired landing area he chooses to avoid the bunkers that await. A longer drive sets up a short lob shot into a very challenging green.
